Hinemoa v. Old Boys | This proved to be n very dour •con- ’ test in which the defence on cither side was most of the time too strong for the opposing attack. Forward 1 play was consequently not bright but I the ti-.ckkug of the respective halfj backs and the clearing of the backs proved good. Early in the first spoil, during an attack bv Old Boys, N. Hughes ran out to clear and before ho Ivould recover Wallace whipped the I ball into the net. Despite strenuous efforts neither side could scon* in tho second spell and the game ended: Old Bovs I, Hinemoa 0. Messrs Hartnell and Spurdlc were the umpires. Technical College v. Star Tho game opened brightly and for a time Star showed to advantage, Connett being rcsnonsiblo for one or two good saves. As play settled down, however, it was seen that Technical | wore forcing the’r opponents to defend J more. The school team were workinp : their right wing to advantage and I eventually success •came from these 1 tactics. Byres ran well down and sen' j across a perfect centre which crwsel I the goal-mouth to be returned from th#. I loft and Ransom scored from pointblank rancro. Encouraged by this success, Technical 'continued to hold their I advantage, but no further goal came in | the first, spell. After the change-over, 'Star tried ba.d for the eoualiser but I found Revell. Connett and Bvroa defending in great style. With only ten minutes lefr for plav and Star on attack a cler/ing h : t went out to halfway, to be secured bv M. Byres, who raced past the Star bn'eks to score after a fine solo effort. The game thus ended with T 'chnical worthy winners: I Technical *2, Star 0. j Messrs Spunlle and Hartnell were the umpires
