SURVEY OF ENTRANCE TO WHANGAPE HARBOUR (REPORT ON), BY CAPTAIN FAIRCHILD.
Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly by Command of His Excellency.
Captain Faikchild, s.s. "Hineinoa," to the Secretary, Marino Department. Sin,— Kaipara, 17th June, 1889. As directed by you, I made a rough survey of entrance to Whangape Harbour. I find the whole of the soundings have decreased fully 3ft. since the survey of 1874; otherwise the chart is still correct. In my opinion, lift.-draught vessels should be the heaviest draught allowed to trade there. I have, &c, The Secretary, Marine Department, Wellington.
