1903. NEW ZEALAND.
NORTH ISLAND MAIN TRUNK RAILWAY (RETURN AND MAP SHOWING PARTICULARS RELATIVE TO).
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated 20th July, 1900. Ordered, "That there bo laid before this House a return, in the form of a map, showing the various routes authorised and suggested for the North Island Main Trunk Railway, Marton to Te Awamutu ; the portion of the railway constructed and under construction ; the routes surveyed in detail, or partially surveyed : the map to show in different colouring the Government land, Native land, and private land for a distance of twenty-five miles on either side of any suggested route of railway ; to show also by distinctive marking the lands acquired under the North Island Main Trunk Railway Loan Application Acts, 1886 and 1889 ; the map to have on it the following details : (1) The amount of the original loan ; (2) the amount expended on the railway to date ; (3) the amount expended on purchase of land under the Main Trunk Railway Loan Application Acts, and the area of such lands ; (4) the area of above lands sold to date, the amount of the purchase-money and the fund or funds credited with such purchase-money ; (5) the estimated value at this date of the lands purchased as under No. 3, and still remaining in the hands of the Crown; (6) the balance of the original loan after deducting Nos. 2 and 3 above, and how this balance ha3 been disposed of; (7) the approximate value at this date of the lands —private, Governme t and Native —for twenty-five miles from railway on either side."—(Mr. J.
