The Bechstbae, Victoria College, to the Bight Hon. the Ministee op Education. Sib, — Victoria College, Eegistrar's Office, Wellington, 13th June, 1905. I have the honour, in pursuance of "The Victoria College Act, 1897," to forward the following report from the Council on the work of the Victoria College for the year ended the 31st December, 1905 :— Classes were held in the following subjects : English language and literature, Latin, Greek, French, German, mental science, jurisprudence and constitutional history, law, economics, history, mathematics, chemistry, and biology. The number of students attending classes was 254, and there were eighty-four exempted students attached to the College. Of these 111 kept terms. The Junior Queen's Scholarships were this year awarded to scholars from the following schools: Havelock North, Stratford, Dannevirke, Terrace School (Wellington), and Newtown School (Wellington). Of the 'present scholarship-holders, nine are attending the Victoria College and twenty-three are at secondary schools. At the last University degree examinations, students of Victoria College passed as follows : M.A. degree with Honours, 3; M.A. degree, 1; Certificate of Proficiency, Honours Standard, 1; LL.B. degree, 1; B.A. degree, 10; first section B.A. degree, 22; B.Sc. degree, 1 ; first section LL.B., 11; second section LL.B., 7.
