NATIVE LAND CLAIMS ADJUSTMENT ACT, 1913: REPORT AND RECOMMENDATION ON PETITION NO. 34/13, RIPEKA TE PEEHI, RELATIVE TO RAETIHI 2B3 BLOCK, INTEREST OF WAITARUNA TE OPETINI (DECEASED).

Sib,— Native Land Court (Chief Judge's Office), Bth July, 1914. Section 2 of the Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1913, provides— (1.) That the Chief Judge is authorized to refer to the Court for inquiry and report the petitions set out in the schedule to that Act. (2.) Upon such report the Chief Judge is to make such recommendations to the Minister as appear to accord with the equities of such case. I have the honour to enclose the Court's report upon one of such petitions as referred to the Court by me pursuant to the above-named Act —namely, the petition of Eipeka te Peehi, No. 34/13 (No. 6 in the schedule to the Act). In this matter I have the honour to make the following recommendation to you —namely : That, as the petitioner wishes to withdraw her petition, no further action is necessary. The Hon. Native Minister, Wellington. Jackson Palmbb, Chief Judge. In the Native Land Court of New Zealand, Aotea District.—ln the matter of section 2 of the Native Land Claims Adjustment Act, 1913; and in the matter of Petition No. 34 of 1913, applying for a rehearing of the application for succession to Waitaruna te Opetini's (deceased) interest in Eaetihi 2b3 Block. Report of the Native Land Court to His Honour the Chief Judge. 1. The subject-matter of this petition was notified for hearing at Wanganui on the 7th May, 1914, and was adjourned, the parties not appearing. It was again notified to be heard at Eaetihi on the 2nd July, 1914. 2. On the 3rd July the petitioner appeared in person before the Court, and on oath stated that she wished to withdraw her claim, and that she did not intend to proceed further in the matter. 3. The Court therefore recommends that no action be taken under section 2, subsection (2), of the said Act. Given under the hand of the Judge and the seal of the Court, this 3rd day of July, 1914. J. B.
