ORDERS OF REFERENCE. Extracts from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Wednesday, the 4th Day of July, 1923. Ordered, " That a Select Committee be appointed, consisting of ten members, to consider all matters pertaining to agricultural and pastoral industries and stock ; with power to confer and sit together with any similar Committee which may be appointed by the Legislative Council, and to agree to a joint or separate report; the Committoe to have power to call for persons, papers, and records ; three to be a quorum : the Committee to consist of Mr. Burnett, Mr. Field, Mr. Forbes, Mr. Hawken, Sir G. Hunter, Mr. Langstone, Mr. Lysnar, Mr. Masters, the Hon. Mr. Ngata, and the mover."—(Hon. Mr. Nosworthy.) Thursday, the sth Day op July, 1923. Ordered, " That the Dairy-produce Export Control Bill bo referred to the Agricultural and I'astoral Industries and Stock Committee." —(Hon. Mr. Nosworthy.)

EBPOKTB. i No. 133.—Petition of Joshua Beverley, of Wellington. Praying for light employment in a Government Department, or for a compassionate allowance, as compensation for loss of health, the result of his strenuous employment on the Weraroa State Farm. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee the petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 17th August, 1923. •

No. 189. —Petition of H. 0. Aickin, of Auckland, and 26 Others. Praying that the compulsory clauses of the Dairy-produce Export Control Bill be not passed into law. I am directed to report that, as the question raised by the petition is the subject of legislation now before the House, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 21st August, 1923.

Dairy-produce Export Control Bill. I have the honour to report that the Committee, having carefully considered the above Bill, and having taken evidence thereon, recommends that it be allowed to proceed, with the amendments shown on the copy of the Bill annexed hereto ; and further recommends that the evidence attached be printed. 22nd August, 1923.

Special Report. I have the honour to report that the Agricultural and Pastoral Industries and Stock Committee desires to place on record its high appreciation of the ability and courtesy with which the Chairman, Sir George Hunter, has presided over the business of the Committee during the session ; and it further desires that this resolution be recorded on the minutes of the ('ommittee and be reported to the House. T. D. Burnett, Member of the Committee. 28th August, 1923.

Final Report. I have the honour to report that the agricultural and Pastoral Industries and Stock Committee, consisting of ten members, held fourteen meetings during the session : of these, eleven were devoted to the consideration and the hearing of evidence on the Dairy-produce Export Control Bill. The Committee also dealt with an important matter referred to it by the Minister, and with two petitions, one of whidi was referred to the Government for favourable consideration, while the other was given " No recommendation." 28th August, 1923.
