RETURN OF MINING COMPANIES WOUND UP AND IN COURSE OF BEING LIQUIDATED.

I have the honor, agreeably with instructions transmitted by telegram on 2nd July last, to enclose herewith a return of the gold mining companies in course of liquidation, up to the 30th June last. Mr. G. Fache to R. G. Fountain, Esq. Sib,— Clyde, Otago, 4th July, 1872. I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your telegram (date and No. see margin), and in reply beg to inform you that, to my knowledge, but one company in the Province of Otago has been wound up, namely, " The Shag River Water Race Company, Registered ;" Date of order, 17th September, 1867 ; Henry John Cope, Official Agent. No. 3. Mr. A. Scott to R. G. Fountain, Esq. Sib,— Hokitika, 4th July, 1872. I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your telegram No. 260, of date 2nd instant. In reply thereto, I beg to state that the only company wound up by me up till present date, is " The Lake Brunner Grand Trunk Water Race Company, Limited," as per statement published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 67, of 17th November, 1869. At present time, I have in course of liquidation "The Scandinavian Gold Mining Company," Ross, and " The Moonlight Quartz Mining Company," Greymouth. I have, &c., R. G. Fountain, Esq., Archd.
