Report on Petition of Hone te Awa and 15 Others. Petitioners state that they have been done out of their land situated near the Bay of Islands, inasmuch as they were induced to allow the name of one Parore to be the sole name in the grant. They allege that when the land was sold and the price paid, they did not receive a single copper of the price, and that when they applied for a rehearing of their case before the Native Lands Court, the application was refused. They pray that £1,000 of the price should be paid to them, or that 12,000 acres should be restored. I am directed to report as follows:—The Committee regret that that the time at their disposal has not been sufficient to enable them to make such inquiries as would justify them in reporting an opinion on the subject-matter of this petition. John Brtce, 25th October, 1876. Chairman. [Translation.] Ko te Kupu a te Komiti mo runga i te Pukapuka-inoi a Hone te Awa me ona hoa 15.
