REPORT OF THE REGISTRAR-GENERAL OF LAND, FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH JUNE, 1877.
Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly by Command of His Excellency.
The Kegistrar-General of Lrsii to the Hon. the Minister of Justice. Sir, — Office of Kegistrar-General of Land, Wellington, 6th August, 1877. In accordance with the usual practice I have the honor herewith to transmit statement and returns as to working of the Land Transfer and Deeds Registry Departments, for the year ending 30th June, 1877. Land Transfer. The receipts of the above department, exclusive of Assurance Fimd, have been £13,652, as against £12,527 for the preceding year. The expenditure has been £9,932. Arrangements which it has been found necessary to make with the Survey DepartmentAvill for the future throw a portion of the cost of working the Land Transfer Act upon that department, but this arrangement does not in any way affect the present statement. The returns appended show (A) the business transacted under the Laud Transfer Act during the year 1876-77 ; (B) fees received during same period; (C) mortgages and discharges of mortgages during same period, and total amounts remaining secured on mortgage under said Act on 30th June last. The amount standing to the credit of the Assurance Fund on 30th June was £13,290. Deeds Registry. The receipts for the year ending 30th June, 1877, have been £16,485, as against £15,733 for the preceding year. The expenditure has been £9,926. I have, Ac, Geo. B.
