The collection includes eight Barks and one Wood, used or tested for tanning in New Zealand, having the amount of tannin determined in each sample by a laborious and important investigation. J. B. This collection embraces a large number of specimens of Kauri Gum, some of great size, representing eight varieties of gum. It is the only important exhibit of Kauri Gum in the Exhibition. J. S. The large and valuable collection of fibres of vegetable origin, with samples of the fabrics produced therefrom, especially of the phormiim tenaz, or New Zealand Flax, indicating the direction of a new and important industry.
