NUMBER OF OFFICERS AND WARDERS EMPLOYED IN THE GAOLS OF THE COLONY.

Return to an Order of the House of Representatives, dated, the Ist day of August, 1878. Ordered, " That a return bo laid before the House showing the number of Officers and Warders employed respectively in the gaols of the colony, with their respective terms of service and respective salaries, their respective hours of duty, and the average number of prisoners annually received into each prison." Also, " That a return be laid before the HouEe of the promotions, within the last two years, of Officers and Warders from inferior to superior positions in the service." — (Mr. Barton.)

RETURN of Officers and Warders employed respectively in the Gaols of the Colony, with their respective Terms of Service and respective Salaries, their respective Hours of Duty, and the average Number of Prisoners annually received into each Prison.
