The Boards' general statements of accounts appended to their annual reports include information respecting the grants received from the special vote for schoolbuildings, and the amounts expended by them during the year 1880. A summary of these accounts is contained in Tables 1 and 2 of the Appendix. The total receipts for buildings amounted to £104,436 16s. Bd., and the expenditure to £117,410 Is. lOd. The excess of expenditure over the amount of the special grants was £12,973 ss. 2d., made up for the most part, as already shown, of moneys in hand at the close of the previous year, and of payments out of the ordinary Board fund by one or two of the Boards. The following table, compiled from the Boards' statements of expenditure, shoAvs, under different heads, the amounts expended on school-buildings by the different Boards during the year 1880 : —
