1882. NEW ZEALAND.

PROPOSED TE ARO RECLAMATION, WELLINGTON HARBOUR (CORRESPONDENCE RELATIVE TO).

Presented to loth Houses of the General Assembly by Command of His Excellency.

No. 1. The Town Clerk to the Seceetaet, Marine Department. Sie, — Town Clerk's Office, 'Wellington, 7th December, 1881. I have the honor, by direction, to forward herewith, in terms of clause 156 of " The Harbours Act, 1881," copies of plans of the proposed Te Aro reclamation, to which the City Council desire to obtain the approval of the Governor in Council, in terms of clause 154 of the said Act. Will you have the kindness to inform me whether this application will be sufficient, or whether it will be necessary to make further application through the Colonial Secretary or other Minister. No. 2. The Seceetaet, Marine Department, to the Town Cleek. Sie, — Marine Department, Wellington, 12th December, 1881. I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 7th instant, forwarding copies of plans of the proposed Te Aro reclamation for the approval of the Governor in Council, and in reply to the last paragraph thereof to inform you that this application will be sufficient; but that duplicate plans will be required in pursuance of section 156 of " The Harbours Act, 1878." No. 3. The Town Cieee to the Seceetaet, Marine Department. Sie,— Town Clerk's Office, Wellington, 23rd December, 1881. Referring to my letter of the 7th instant, I have now the honor to forward herewith duplicate plans of the proposed Te Aro reclamation signed as approved by the Chairman of the Harbour Board; and, as the Council are anxious now to call for tenders with the least possible delay, I have to request that you will kindly give the matter all due despatch. I am further directed to state that, although the details in the plans submitted to you are for a breastwork of totara, sheathed with muntz-metal, it is the intention of the Council to call for alternate tenders for cement alone, or for cement and brick. No. 4. The Seceetaet, Marine Department, to the Town Odeek. Sib, — Marine Department, Wellington, 30th January, 1882. Referring to your letter of the 7th ultimo, forwarding plans of the proposed Te Aro reclamation for approval by His Excellency the Governor in Council, I have the honor, by direction of the Minister having charge of this department, to forward herewith copy of report thereon by the Colonial Marine Engineer, together with duplicates of the plans referred to therein.
