[Note. —On the Ist January, 1848, the colony was divided into two provinces, namely, Now Ulster, embracing the then existing settlements of Auckland, Russell, and New Plymouth ; and New Munster, those of Wellington and Nelson, and subsequently Otago, founded in 1848, and Canterbury in 1850.] For the year 1852.—The information for the whole colony for this year cannot be stated, as returns or statistic;; for the Province of New Munster cannot be found.
