There are 1,150 seedling plants now in stock. The seeds of a number of the most valuable forest-trees were obtained from California during the past season and have been distributed throughout the colony. A large number of the introduced forest-trees that have now been thoroughly established in the gardens are also bearing seeds freely, and they are carefully collected for distribution, together with the seeds of the native trees and shrubs, the latter being in great demand by foreign correspondents. Donations to the gardens in the form of plants or seeds have been received from the following: Sir G. Grey, Mr. Thomas Mason, Mr. T. Kirk, Dr. W. T. Thiselton Dyer, Mr. J. Johnson, Mr. Knorpp, Mr. J. Harding, Captain Messenger, Captain Isherwood, and Mr. J. ¥. Armstrong. The Honorary Treasurer's statement of accounts, which is appended, shows a balance in hand at this date of J149 ss. 2d. Approved by the Board. Wm. P. Drummond Jervois, Chairman. James Hector, 22nd July, 1886. Manager.
