APPENDIX G. Dubing the year ended 31st March, 1884, 400 ferrets were liberated on Crown lands by Government, and about 4,000 on private lands by landowners. During the year ended 31st March, 1885, 786 ferrets were liberated on Crown lands by Government, and about 5,000 on private lands by landowners; 55 stoats and 183 weasels were also liberated by Government. During the year ended 31st March, 1886,1,331 ferrets were liberated on Crown lands by Government, and about 6,000 on private lands by landowners ; 82 stoats and 126 weasels were also liberated by Government, and 87 stoats and 283 weasels by landowners.
