They do not represent the contributions of the respectivi districts to the revenue, because duty-paid goods are largely exported from one district to another for consumption, the foreign import trade of the colony being practically centred in the four principa ports, of which the chief one is in the Provincial District of Otago. The duty from stamps and property-tax can only be stated approximately.
