LEGISLATIVE EXPENSES DEPENDENT ON DURATION OF SESSION (RETURN OF).

Return to an Order of the Souse of Representatives dated the 9th July, 1889. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing what is the average cost per day of the sitting of Parliament in respect of messengers, lighting, and all other services and items of cost the amount of which depends on the duration of the session, and not including any fixed expenses, such as the honorarium of members, statutory, annual, or sessional payment of officers of either House, or any expenses which do not vary with the length of the session."—(Major Steward.)
