As the Public Trustee declined to recognise any deductions from rent due, and lessee (D. McGregor) refused to pay, he was proceeded against in the Supreme Court, when it was found that he had been insolvent, and that the lease had been transferred to lessee's brother (J. McGregor), thus necessitating a fresh action. Mr. J. McGregor is being sued for £500 and possession of the land. The case is to come on at the next sitting of the Supremo Court at Whanganui. Lessee claimed to be allowed to pay under award. Full rent was sued for; but case was adjourned from 24th June, 1890, to 8th July, 1890, on which latter date, the Reserves Trustee, a, material witness, being in Wellington, case was again adjourned by mutual consent.
