GOVERNOR'S ORDER UNDER "THE CUSTOMS AND EXCISE DUTIES ACT, 1888" (COPY OF).

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly pursuant to " The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888."

Duty to be levied on Brewers' Caramel. Onslow, Governor. In exercise of the powers in me for that purpose vested by " The Customs and Excise Duties Act, 1888," I, William Hillier, Earl of Onslow, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby direct that, from and after the date hereof, there shall be levied upon brewers' caramel, used as a substitute for black or roasted malt, a duty of threepence the pound. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and ninety. Edwin Mitchelson, No. 139. (For the Commissioner of Trade and Customs.)
