I have the honour to report as follows : That the opinion of the Committee is that, the proposed Whangara Land Bill having been approved by the Committee, the petition is recommended to the favourable consideration of the Government.

No. 268, 1890.—Petition of Whakaeato Taiehu. Petitionee desires that £189—namely, seven years' rent at £27 per annum, which is stated to have been kept back by the Government, may be paid to him. I have the honour to report as follows : That the opinion of the Committee is that the petition be referred to the Government for inquiry, and that the Board be instructed not to spend any of the rents from the two hotels until the inquiry takes place. 9th September, 1890.
