EXPENDITURE INCURRED.

The amount of surveyed land open for selection on the Ist October, 1887, was 480,000 acres, of which a large proportion had not been back-pegged. The amount of surveyed land open for selection on the 31st March, 1890, was 530,000 acres, the greater portion of which had been back-pegged. The total amount open for selection on the 31st March, 1890, including surveyed and partially surveyed— the socalled unsectionised lands —amounted to 970,000 acres. The unsectionised lands have had, inmost cases, the roadlines laid out.
