HARBOUR-WORKS, GREYMOUTH AND WESTPORT (REPORTS AND CORRESPONDENCE RESPECTING).

Betums to orders of the Souse of Representatives dated 18th August and letJi September, 1892. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House copies of any recent reports made by Mr. C. N Bell, either to the Harbour Boards or the Government, upon the harbour-works of Greymouth and Westport, together with copies of any plans or soundings accompanying such reports, and any correspondence relating thereto." —(Mr. Weight.) Ordered, " That there be laid before this House the report of Mr. Reynolds on the Westport Harbour."—(Mr. Wright.)

THE GBEYMOUTH HAKBOUE WOEKS (CORRESPONDENCE RELATING TO MR. C. NAPIER BELL'S REPORT). No. 1. C. Napier Bell, Esq., Wellington. Greymouth, 14th May, 1892. Geeymouth Harbour Board would be glad if you would kindly report on dredging operations in Grey Eiver, and on necessity for completing training-banks. Will you kindly wire whether you can do so. Also amount of your fee for report. A. E. Guinness, Chairman.

No. 2. A. E. Guinness, Esq., M.H.E., Greymouth. Dunedin, 20th May, 1892. Will make same charge as for Westport — that is, fifty pounds and actual expenses. Address, Christchurch. C. Napiee Bell. No. 3. C. Napier Bell, Esq., Christchurch. Greymouth, 21st May, 1892. Telegbam received. Board agrees to your terms. A. E. Guinness, Chairman. No. 4. Deae Sic,— Christchurch, 22nd May, 1892. Having received your telegram accepting my offer to report on the Greymouth dredging and training-walls, I shall, without delay, proceed to Westport, where I have to make a report, and after that I shall come to Greymouth to receive your instructions. I am, &c, A. E. Guinness, Esq., M.H.R. C. Napieb Bell. No. 5. Sic,— Greymouth, 6th June, 1892. I have come to Greymouth from Westport to get some information here which I require for Westport, and intend to return to Westport to-morrow After being four or five days in Westport I intend to come back to Greymouth and devote myself to the business you require of me, 1—I) 17.
