The surgeon is skilful and attentive to his duties. I called the attention of the Chairman to the position of one of the attendants, and the matter was promptly put right. The number of patients on the date of my visit was twenty-one. All spoke well of the treatment they received. Owing to some friction between the Trustees and the Charitable Aid Board, another medical man was employed to look after the inmates of the Old People's Home instead of the hospital surgeon, who formerly did the work. I am not able fully to judge of all the circumstances ; but I hope those concerned will carefully consider how far it is justifiable to cause increased expenditure of public money by their action.
