I have the honour to report that the Committee have fully considered the allegations contained in the petition, and the evidence adduced; that they have examined the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court, and the Court documents in relation to the case, and also have heard counsel for all concerned; with the result that they find the statements of the petitioner to be correct. They therefore recommend that provision be made whereby the petitioners' case shall be unaffected by the partial rehearing ordered by the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court in the Mangaohane Block, except so far as Native rights may be judged to exist on the said rehearing. The Committee is also of opinion that such rehearing should be limited to those who made the applications upon which it was granted. sth October, 1892.

No. 434.—Petition of Emily Maria Fueeoon (Mrs. Buckworth). Petitioner prays for compensation to the extent of £500 for losses sustained through the confiscation of her father's land, and his murder at Whakatane whilst he was in the Government service. I am directed to report that the Committee are of opinion that this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. sth October, 1892.

No. 89, 1891.—Petition of Aethue Owen. Petitionee prays that full inquiry may be made into his claim to land on the north bank of the Mokau Biver. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government, together with the Committee's report of 1888, with a view of ascertaining if the allegations put forward are such as to warrant further inquiry being made, and, if so, the Committee recommends that District Judge Kettle be appointed to conduct such inquiry. 5th October, 1892.

No. 596.—Petition of Whakatau. Petitionee recounts his military services, and prays that some allowance may be made him now that he is old and unable to work.
