CIVIL SERVICE APPOINTMENTS (DETAILS RELATIVE TO).
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated 27th June, 1895. Ordered,—" That a list (1) of all persons who competed for cadetships, and who, though unsuccessful, were appointed to positions in the Civil Service as temporary clerks or otherwise during the years 1892, 1893, and 1894 ; and (2) of all persons who, without any examination, have been appointed to temporary cadetships, be laid before this House."—(Hon. Sir Robert Stout.)
(1.) Names of all Persons who competed for Cadetships, and who, though unsuccessful, were appointed to Positions in the Civil Service as Temporary Clerks or otherwise during the Years 1892, 1893, and 1894.
* This return does not apply to the Post and Telegraph Department, which has a set of regulations of its own under which cadets are admitted. fTwo temporary junior clerks were appointed in this year, but no temporary cadets. J This return does not apply to the Railway Department, as railway officers are not Civil servants, and no appointments have been made to temporary cadetships in this department. § Appointed in August, 1894 ; retired on 30th April, 1895.
