[Translation.] No. 470, 1895.—Pitihana a Raumati Pomakariei me etahi atu tokorua. E inoi ana te kai-pitihana kia whakawakia tuaruatia a Kaitangiwhenua Poraka, c tata ana ki Patea. Kua whakahaua ahau kia ki penei, kite whakaaro a te Komiti me tuku atu tenei pitihana ki te Kawanatanga kia whiriwhiria. 7 o August, 1896.

No. 163. —Petition of Ropata Ngatiwai and 2 Others. Petitioners pray that they may be allowed to sell the kauri timber on their land (Wairahi) to the Kauri Timber Company. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for favourable consideration, and that the Natives be requested to submit to the Government the terms on which they propose to sell the kauri timber to the Kauri Timber Company. 7th August, 1896.

No. 204. —Petition of Alice Mary Redmond, of Wellington. Petitioner, a half-caste, belonging to the Ngatiawa Tribe, Waitara, alleges that owing to her having lived with her parents in the Middle Island from her childhood she has had no opportunity of prosecuting her claims to certain lands in Taranaki. She prays for consideration as a landless Native. I am directed to report that the Committee is of opinion this petition should be referred to the Government for inquiry, and if the allegations are found to be correct, it is recommended that relief be granted to the petitioner. 7th August, 1896.

No. 211.—Petition of Henaeb Tomoana. Petitioner alleges that certain persons are being wrongfully admitted as successors to interests in the Karamu Eeserve, Hawke's Bay, and prays that steps may be taken to prevent the same. I am directed to report that the Committee find that this question has been dealt with by the Appellate Court, and as they cannot review the action of that Court, no recommendation can be made with regard to this petition. 7th August, 1896.

No. 43. —Petition of Wibemu Neera tb Kanab and 155 Others. Petitionebs allege that notwithstanding the whole of their land in the northern portion of the Middle Island was not sold by the Native owners, the whole has been taken by Government. They pray for the return of the unsold portions. I am directed to report that, as this matter was inquired into by a Eoyal Commission in 1874 and settled, the Committee has no recommendation to make. 12th August, 1896.
