No. 226.—Petition of Wi te Kahu and 46 others. Petitioners allege that when the Mohaka Nos. I. and 11. Blocks were partitioned the individual shares were wrongly allocated. They pray for readjustment. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government, with a view to legislation being introduced to enable the readjustment prayed for. 4th September, 1896.

No. 212.—Petition of Hamapiri Tarikama and 14 Others. Petitioners ask for information regarding reserves they believe were made in Porirua and Heretaunga districts (Wellington), and pray that any such reserves undealt with may be at once put through the Native Land Court. I am directed to report that the Committee recommend that this petition be referred to the Government for the purpose of having inquiries made as to whether any reserves for the Natives exist within the districts named, and if it is found such reserves do exist, then some proper tribunal should be appointed to deal with the same. Bth September, 1896.

No. 240.—Petition of Anitipa Pukatea and 28 Others. Petitioners pray that legislation may be passed to enable a rehearing of the partitioning of Lot 66, Waipa Survey District. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of this Committee, petitioners have a just claim for consideration, and it is recommended that the Government should bring in the necessary legislation to give the relief prayed for. Bth September, 1896.

No. 32.—Petition of Tuta Nuku Tame and Others. Petitioners state that they are the rightful owners of the Purangi Block, near Waitara, and that they understand the Government is about to take the same for a township. They pray that this may be prevented, as they wish to retain it for their own use. I am directed to report that, as there seems to be some misunderstanding with regard to the land in question, the Committee recommend that the petition be referred to the Government for inquiry. 9th September, 1896.
