TELEGRAPH AND TELEPHONE BUREAUX (RETURN OF PARTICULARS RELATING TO).

Returns to Orders of the House of Representatives dated the 19th November, 1897. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a list of all telegraph and telephone bureaux in the colony ; the capital cost of constructing the lines to each ; the distances of connections with main lines; and the revenues received from each bureau from date of first commencing operations until the end of last financial year; and also the names of localities where bureaux (if any such exist) are being run free of paying usual charges, defining those bureaux with and without undertakings of guarantee against loss." —(Hon. Mr. L-abnach.) Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing the various telephone bureaux or offices in the colony; the persons or departments to whom free telephone connections are given; the cost of establishing such bureaux, offices, or connections, and the revenue derived from each ; the amounts of guarantees given or moneys paid in respect of each bureau, office, or connection ; and the net profit or loss in regard to such bureau, office, or connection." —(Mr, Pibani.)
