1899. NEW ZEALAND.

FRIENDLY SOCIETIES (TWENTY-SECOND ANNUAL REPORT BY THE REGISTRAR OF).

Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly pursuant to " The Friendly Societies Act, 1882," Section 5, Subsection (8).

TEANSACTIONS DUEING THE YEAE 1898. Begisteation of Societies and Beanches. 1. The total number of registrations during the year 1898 was 21, distributed thus: M.TJ.1.0.0.F.,* 10 lodges; A.0.F., 5 courts; U.A.0.D., 2 lodges; 1.0. E., 1 tent; 1.F.5., 2 societies ; W.M.C., 1 club. 2. In the following table the progress of registration during the year is shown by a comparison of the number of societies and branches on the register as at the beginning and end of the year respectively.

3. A complete list of societies and branches on the register as at the end of 1898 is given in Appendix 11. Cancellation of Eegistey. 4. The registry of the under-mentioned society, which has ceased to exist, was cancelled during the year : — A.O.F.—Court Pride of the West. Conversion of Eegistey. 5. During the year thirteen lodges, registered as separate societies, applied for conversion of registry, and were registered as branches —viz., Fountain of Friendship and Duke of Cambridge Lodges, as branches of the Auckland District, M.TJ.1.0.0.F. ; and Otago, Enterprise, Eoyal Oak, Acorn, Linden, West Harbour, Endeavour, Good Intent, Eose of Palmerston, and Gore Lodges, as branches of the Grand Lodge of Otago and Southland District, New Zealand, U.A.O.D.
