FRIENDLY SOCIETIES (TWENTY-THIRD ANNUAL REPORT BY THE REGISTAR OF).
Presented to both Houses of the General Assembly pursuant to " The Friendly Societies Act, 1882," Section 5, Subsection (8).
TRANSACTIONS DURING THE YEAR 1899. Registration of Societies and Branches. 1. The total number of registrations during the year 1899 was 14, distributed thus: M.U.I.O.O.F.,* 5 lodges; A.O.R., 4 courts; U.A.O.D., 2 lodges; 1.O.R., 1 tent; I.F.S., 1 society; W.M.C, 1 club. 2. In the following table the progress of registration during the year is shown by a comparison of the number of societies and branches on the register as at the beginning and end of the year respectively.
3. A complete list of societies and branches on the register as at the end of 1899 is given in Appendix 11. Cancellation op Registey. 4. The registry of the under-mentioned branches, which had ceased to exist, was cancelled during the year :— Mountaineer Lodge, Grand Lodge of the North Island, U.A.O.D. Rose of Sharon Tent, New Zealand Central District, 1.0. R. CONVERSION OF REGISTRY. 5. Greymouth Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., registered as a separate society, applied for conversion of registry, and was registered as a branch of the Hokitika District.
