MAKARAEO GOVERNMENT LIME-KILNS (COST OF PRODUCTION AND SELLING-PRICE OF LIME AT).
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated 10th October, 1901. Ordered, " That there be laid on the table of'the House a return showing,—(l) The total coat of production of lime at trie Government lime-kilns at Mabeno; and (2) the selling-price per ton of such lime."—(Mr. Millae,)
Eetuen showing the Total Cost of Production of Limb at the Government Lime-kilns at Makaraeo, and the Selling-pbice of such Lime. (1.) The actual cost of production is 9s. 4d. per ton at the kiln. This is not inclusive of the cost of loading on wagons, soliciting orders, incidental expenses, bad debts, &c, wear-and-tear of plant, interest on value of plant, and rent of land. This will probably bring it up to quite 11s. 6d. per ton. (2.) The selling-price per ton of lime is 12s. There are no Government lime-kilns at Maheno. It is presumed that the question refers to the lime-kiln at Makaraeo, and it has been answered accordingly. Approximate Cost of Pape ration, not given ; printing (1,200 copies), 17s.
By Authority: John Mackay, Government Printer, Wellington.—l9ol. Price 3d] ■
