ORDER OF REFERENCE. Extract from the Journals of the House of Representatives. Wednesday, the 3bd Day of July, 1901. Ordered, " That Standing Order No. 211 bo suspended, and that a Goldflelds and Mines Committee consisting of seventeen members, be appointed, to whom shall be referred all matters relating to mining and all Bills relating to mines, with power to oall for persons and papers ; five to be a quorum: the Committee to consist of Mr J Allen Mr. Benuet, Mr. Carncross, Mr. Colvin, Mr. Duncan, Mr. W. Petitioner prays that a reward may be granted for the discovery, which he alleges was made by him, of the East and "West Taieri goldflelds, and of goldflelds on the west coast of the South Island. The Goldflelds and Mines Committee have the honour to report, upon the petition of Simon Fraser, that they have no recommendation to make. Ist August, 1901. No. 197. —Petition of Alexandek Mackay, of Paeroa, Auckland. (No. 1.) Petitionek seeks to obtain a reward for the discovery, which he alleges was made by him, at Ohinemuri, Karangahake, and other places, of payable goldflelds. The Goldflelds and Mines Committee have the honour to report, on the petition of Alexander Mackay, that they have no recommendation to make. Ist August, 1901.
