In accordance with an Order in Council of 15th December, 1878, and in compliance with a circular from the Education Department dated 20th December last, I have the honour to forward the report of the School Commissioners for the Provincial District of Otago for the year ended 31st December, 1901. During the year twelve meetings were held, at which all of the Commissioners were present, with the exception of Mr. J. P. Maitland, who was laid aside by illness, and whose place has since been filled by the appointment of Mr. David Barron, Commissioner of Crown Lands.
