Burkes Pass Domain. Reserve No. 1595, Block VIII, Burke Survey District. Area, 45 acres and 3 perches. Work done during year : Noxious weeds eradicated and fences repaired. Improvements now on domain : Ring fences, 2 acres fenced and planted with trees of various kinds. Used for picnics and general recreation; a portion is also used for grazing. Carleton Domain. Reserves Nos. 2808 and 2858, Block V, Mairaki Survey District. Area, 13 acres 3 roods. Work done during year : Erection of two gates and a picket fence. Improvements now on domain: Thirty chains fences, pavilion, cricket-pitch, and plantation. Used for sports, cricket, and tennis. Proposed operations for ensuing year : Painting picket fence. Cashmere Hills Domain. Reserve No. 161, Halswell Survey District. Area, 188 acres 3 roods 11 perches. One hundred and seventy-three acres leased; lessee to keep premises leased in good order, and supply visitors with refreshments at reasonable prices. Work done during year: Eight hundred trees planted, notice-boards and outbuildings painted, and about J acre fenced with rabbit-proof fence, and planted with matipo-trees. Improvements now on domain : House, Victoria Memorial Pavilion (brick), cowshed, fences, plantations, and nursery. Used for picnics and general recreation. Proposed operations for ensuing year: Further planting, and erection of rabbit-proof fences. Cave Domain. Reserve No. 3683 (Rosewill Settlement), Block IX, Pareora Survey District. Area, 10 acres 1 rood 35 perches. The Board was appointed in July, 1905. In order to get an even surface on the domain it has been leased for cropping for three years. There is a plantation on the area. Proposed operations for ensuing year : Erection of gates and 40 chains fences. Chertsey Domain. Reserve No. 2376, Ashburton Survey District, and Reserve No. 3057, Town of Chertsey. Area, 32 acres 2 roods 27 perches. Leased for grazing. Work done during year: Forming cycle-track, trimming and grubbing gorse fences, and erection of new standard-and-wire fences. Improvements now on domain: Fences, plantation, water-race, dressing-room, trotting and cycle tracks, and avenue. Used for picnics, cricket, football, trotting and bicycle races, and general recreation. Christchurch Domain. Parts of Reserves Nos. 24 and 25, Block XI, Christchurch Survey District. Area, 495 acres. Three hundred and seventy acres leased. Work done during year: Bridges and gates repaired, new entrance-gate erected, several artesian wells cleaned, walks repaired, lawns mowed, new flower-beds made, ferns planted in shade-house, grass cut, broom eradicated, trees in plantations thinned and pruned, and general maintenance. Improvements now on domain: Fences, iron and other gates, gardens, parks, avenues of different kinds of trees, magnetic observatory, museum, head gaidener's house, cottages for park ranger and caretaker of gardens, hothouse, shade-house, three large bridges and several small ones, lake of 5 acres, lawns, walks, artesian wtlls, and plantations. Used for acclimatisation purposes, polo, golf, hockey, cricket, bowling, tennis, croquet, football, model-yacht sailing, Volunteer encampments and reviews, picnics, and general recreation. The International Exhibition, to be opened this year, will be held in the domain. The necessary buildings are now in course of erection. Coalgate Domain. Reserve No. 2409, Hororata Survey District. Area, 20 acres 1 rood. Twenty-seven acres leased. Work done during year: Gorse cutting and grubbing, constructing water-race, and general repairs to fences. Improvements now on domain: Good fences, and 1| acres plantation. Used for grazing and sports. Proposed operations for ensuing year: Treeplanting. Conway Domain. Section No. 46, Block XII, Hawkswood Survey District. Area, 10 acres. Leased for grazing purposes. Not used by the public. Courtenay Domain. Reserve No. 241.3, Block VIII, Hawkins Survey District. Area, 20 acres. Work done during year: Plain and barb wire fence with iron standards erected, trees lopped, seven hundred Pinus insignis and some oaks planted on eastern boundary, gate-posts and stile erected. Improvements-now on domain': Eighty chains ditch-and-wire fences, and 9 acres plantations. Used for picnics.
