Sir, —T have the honour to inform you that the Christchurch Burgesses' Association has forwarded by telegraph the following resolution to Mrs. Seddon, and has appointed its President (Dr. C J. Russell) to represent the association at the funeral of the late Premier, if the obsequies are conducted at Wellington. Resolution : " The Christchurch Burgesses' Association desires to record its heartfelt sympathy for Mrs. Seddon and family in this their hour of deep distress caused by the sudden and unexpected death of the late Premier. At the same time the association feels sure that the sorrow of the nation and the relatives of the late Liberal leader will be somewhat assuaged by the knowledge that the late Right Hon. Richard John Seddon had lived to complete a work whose magnitude and farreaching beneficial effects has seldom fallen to the lot of any statesman."
