DEFENCE FORCES OF NEW ZEALAND: PARTICULARS RELATIVE TO RIFLE RANGES.
Return to an Order of the Bouse of Representatives dated the 21st August, 1908. Ordered, " That there be laid before this House a return showing the name and location of each public rifle range throughout the Dominion, the cost of the land occupied by each suoh range, the cost of formation and completion thereof, and the number of Volunteer corps and rifle clubs which each range serves."—(Mr. Field.)

Herewith please find a return re above, showing approximate expenditure to the 30th September, 1908, compiled from the Defence and Public Works files in accordance with an order of the House of Representatives dated the 21st August, on the motion of Mr. Field, M.P. As the expenditure extends over a number of years, time does not allow of the amounts quoted, which are those of Cabinet or Ministerial authorities, being checked with the correspondingj.Treasury vouchers, so that, though authorities could not be exceeded, the expenditure shown can only be regarded as approximate.
