No. 78 (1908). —Petition of John Pilkington, of Remuera. Petitioner prays for redress relative to Native land (Pukapuka Block). I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make on this petition. Ist October, 1908.

Petitioners pray that certain burial-places and a fishing-ground in the Patea district, of which the petitioners have wrongfully been dispossessed, be returned to them. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, these petitions should be referred to the Government for immediate Inquiry. Ist October, 1908. I am directed to report that, in the opinion of the Committee, this petition should be referred to the Government with a recommendation that the claim be dealt with as early as possible.
