Thanks to Mr. Houston. I ha\k the honour to report, by direction of the Native Affairs Committee, tbal the following resolution was passed by the Committee on Friday, the 9th day of October, 1908: — 'Thai the Native Affairs Committee expresses its regiel that it will not again have the valuable services of Mr. I!. M. Houston as Chairman or member; that a vote of thanks he passed Id him in recognition of the able manner in which he has carried out his duties; and that this resolution be placed upon the records of the Ron e." 10th October, 1908.

Final Report. 1 am directed to report that the Native Affairs Committee held its final meeting on Friday, the 9th day of October, 1908. During the session the Committee held thirty-seven meetings. The Committee had before it 194 petitions, including 18 petitions undealt-with last year. Of these, 176 were considered and reported upon; the remaining 18, as per schedule attached, are held over till next session for consideration. The following Bills were referred to and duly reported on by the Committee : viz., the Maori Land Laws Amendment Bill and the Validation Court Empowering Bill. I Oth October, 1908.
