RETURN NO. 32. Statement of Alterations in and Additions to Scale of Charges during the Year ended 31st March, 1910. PART I.—PASSENGERS. General Fares and Regulations. Public-school Cadets : Regulation amended. School boarders' tickets : Regulation amended. Ordinary tickets : Fares for distances over 50 miles increased. Tourist excursion tickets : Fates increased owing to additional mileage added to system. Local Fares and Regulations. North Island Main Line and Brandies. Regulation re combining suburban and ordinary fares cancelled. Hot Lakes District round-trip tickets : Fares increased. Regulation re computation of fares for passengers conveyed over the Government line being computed on the basis of the shorter route abolished. Regulation inserted providing that tickets for intermediate stations between Thorndon and Palmerston North are not available for north- or south-bound Main Trunk express trains. Passengers breaking this regulation to pay full ordinary fare for 87 miles. South Inland Main Line and Branches. Hanmer Plains Hot Springs tickets : Regulation and fares amended consequent upon the motor-cars running through from Culverden to Hanmer and vice versa. Through booking by rail and steamer between Dunedin and Portobello : Steamer and rail fares reduced. Through booking by rail and steamer to Queenstown : Fares increased. Cold Lakes and Glacial Districts of Otago, and round trips through Central Otago : Fares increased. Regulation re combining suburban and ordinary lares cancelled. PART lI.—PARCELS, HORSES, ETC.: GENERAL. Homing-pigeons: Regulation amended to provide that homing-pigeons are to be charged ordinary parcels rates when forwarded by mail and express trains. Parcels, Hokses, etc. : Local Rates. North Island Main Line and Branches. Luggage, parcels, &c.: Regulation re charges being computed on the basis of the shorter route abolished. Westland Section. Parcels consigned to Ross : Additions to parcel rates owing to cartage contract. South Island Main Line and Branches. Through booking by rail and motor of parcels, luggage, &c, by Hanmer motor service : Regulation and charges amended. PART III.—GOODS: REGULATIONS. Regulation (4), Class F: Provision made for chaff loaded in "Lα " wagons to be charged one and a quarter times the classified or local rates; loading and unloading charges to be made on the same basis. Regulation (7), Class M : Sheep conveyed in " Lα " wagons to be charged two-thirds of the rate charged for " J " trucks. Regulation (10), Class " Q," amended to meet the case of small lots of New Zealand ground phosphate. PART IV.—GOODS: LOCAL RATES. North Island Main Line and Branches. Goods of Classes A, B, C, D, on New Plymouth - Breakwater line : Regulation amended. Regulation re computation of charges on goods, live-stock, &c, on basis shorter route andcharges on goods ex Manawatu Railway Company's line abolished. Westland Section. Goods for Ross : Cartage charge of 2s. 6d. per ton (minimum, 3d.) provided on goods consigned to Ross. Coal requiring baggage, Is. 6d. additional. Picton Section. Through booking: Regulation amended to provide for malt, flour, wheat, beans, barley, potatoes, pollard, oatmeal, onions, oats, bran, and grass-seed between the Port (Nelson) and stations between Picton and Blenheim being charged Is. per sack. South Island Main Line and Branches. Ships' goods, Dunedin and Port Chalmers : Regulation amended.
