(Telegram.) Sir Joseph Ward, Wellington. Christchurch, 30th June, 1910. Bickerton Fund fully subscribed, and lodged in Bank of New Zealand. Certified lists posted to-day. Can we draw on funds we have collected to meet expenses ? Howard, President Trades Council and Trustee funds.

(Telegram.) — Howard, Esq., Trades Hall, Christchurch. Wellington, Ist July, 1910. Be your telegram of 30th June respecting Bickerton Association, do not quite understand your inquiry as to drawing on funds. The sums collected are at the disposal of the association. The subsidy of £1 for £1 will, of course, be paid by Government on amount actually collected, irrespective of amounts expended. J. G. Ward.

Sir, — The Bickerton Association, Box 535, Christchurch, 2nd July, 1910. In reply to your wire re subsidy to funds of the above association, I have the honour to enclose certified list of the amount subscribed to date. The funds are in the Bank of New Zealand .in the name of the Bickerton National Shilling Fund. Professor Bickerton purposes to leave for Home on the 7th instant if all arrangements can be made.
