I am directed by the Hoard of Trade t<> inform you that, at the requesi of the Association of Chamber of Commerce, they are desirous of obtaining information on the following points in connection with I he enforcement of British arbitration awards in the dominions and self-governing colonies: — (1.) Is an agreement in writing to refer to arbitration in the United Kingdom disputes arising out of commercial contracts valid and enforceable in any of the dominions or self-govern ing colonies? (2.) Can an award in an arbitration held in the United Kingdom be enforced in any of the dominions or self-governing colonies, and, if so, by what means — (a.) Where such an award is given in the United Kingdom; and (6.) Where, pursuant to the terms of the agre&nent or reference to arbitration, the award can be delivered in the place of domicile of eacli of the parties thereto? 1 am accordingly to ask yon io be good enough to move Lord (Vewe, should lie see no objection, to request the Governments of the dominions and self-governing colonies to furnish, so far as possible, answers to these questions, together with any observations which they may be willing to add by way of supplement or explanation to these answers.
