7. The Great Chasm, Ngauruhoe Crater, which was in Violent Eruption, Easter, 1909. Photo taken Christmas, 1908. Castle Rock can be seen on the far side of the crater. The white patches are snow.

8. The Same View as No. 7, taken Easter, 1910. The small rock to the left of Castle Rock has disappeared. A good deal more mud has been thrown out and deposited inside the outer crater. As this view was taken three months later in the year than No. 7, all trace of snow has disappeared.
