The percentage of members sick for the year 1910 was therefore highest in the A.0.F., while the average sickness per member at risk was highest in the M.U.1.0.0.F. and lowest in the 1.0.0. F. In 1909 the percentage of members sick was 17-14, the average sickness per member sick was 8-34 weeks, and the average sickness per member at risk 1-43 weeks. Mortality. The following statement of average mortality experienced for the year is given herewith, but it takes no account of age incidence : —
Sick and Funeral Funds. The contributions and entrance fees paid to Sick and Funeral Funds in 1910 amounted to £100,017. Divided by the mean number of members the average was £1 9s. lid., as against £1 9s. 6d. for 1909. The interest and rent received by the lodges and central bodies amounted to £56,786 in 1910, equal to 17s. per member, as against 16s. 7d. for 1909. The amount of sickness benefit paid was £69,677 in 1910, equal to £5 17s. 7d. per member sick, and £1 os. 10d. per member, as against £5 18s. 4d. and 19s. 3d. respectively for 1909. Viewing the amount paid in relation to the weeks of sickness, the average benefit per week is found to be 14s. 3d. in 1910, as compared with 14s. 2d. in 1909. The funeral benefit paid amounted to £14.587 in 1910, equal to 4s. 4d. per member, as compared with 3s. lid. for 1909. The total worth of the Sick and Funeral Funds at the beginning of 1910 of 609 lodges was £1,151,724, and at the end of the year £1,221,372, as compared with 567 lodges, worth £1,065,549 and £1,133,534, at the beginning and end of 1909. The balance of gain for the year was £69,648, or £1 os. 10d. per member in 1910, as compared with £67,985, or £1 Is. 4d., in 1909. The averages for the five leading orders and for all societies are given in the following table for the year 1910 :—
Investment of Funds. The net income from investments credited to the Sick and Funeral Funds for 1910 amounted to £56,786, the average rate being 4-90 per cent, (say, £4 18s.), as against £4 18s. Bd. in 1909. Table showing the Total Worth of the Sick and Funeral Funds of 609 Lodges as on the Ist January, 1910, and the 31st December, 1910, inclusive of the Accumulations held by the Central Bodies ; also the Amount and Average Kate of Interest earned.
