£ conclusion, permit me to express the great pleasure you have given my Government in to 'South Africa to represent the people of New Zealand. I trust that your sojourn amongst us will be a very pleasant one, and that you will take back with you happy recollections of your visit to this portion of the Empire. Sir, — Johannesburg, 21st November, 1910. I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 11th instant, a.nd to say that I shall have much , pleasure in conveying to the Parliament of New Zealand, through the Right Hon. the Prime Minister, the sincere appreciation and thanks of the Union Parliament for its hearty congratulations on the establishment of a national Government for South Africa. The courtesies extended to my party and me by the Government and the people have enabled us to have an exceedingly pleasant and profitable sojourn in South Africa, of which we shall long retain pleasant memories.
