Dr. Makgill (Auckland) reports : — The notification of infectious disease, though 471 fewer than in 1910, are still some couple of hundred in excess of the normal number, the excess being accounted for by the tardy abatement of the scarlet-fever epidemic in 1910, and by the somewhat heavy record of enteric fever, but which increase occurred in country districts, and of which the Maori epidemics, referred to in another place, account for 85 of the 194 recorded in country districts. The total number of notifications is 1,1.76.
