WESTPORT AND GREYMOUTH HARBOUR BOARDS (PARTICULARS RELATIVE TO PAYMENTS TO) FROM THE RAILWAY REVENUE.
Return to an Order of the House of Representatives dated the 7th October, 1914. Ordered, " That there be laid before this Houpe a return showing the amounts paid over each year to the Westport and Greymouth Harbour Boards from the railway revenue for the last five years : the return also to show (a) the profit per cent, these payments have paid on the cost of the lines affected, and (6) the reduction of the stated profit on the Dominion lines made by these payments to the Harbour Boards referred to." —(Mr. Russell.)
Return of Amounts paid over each Year to the Westport and Greymouth Harbour Boards from the Railway Revenue for the last Five Years.
(a.) The payments to the Westport Harbour Board represent a return per cent, on capital expenditure on the Westport-Mokihinui section of railway as follows : — £ s. d. 1909-1910 ... 13 5 1 1910-1911 ... 11 19 10 1911-1912 ... 12 1 11 1912-1913 ... 12 16 6 1913-1914 ... 9 0 4 The return per cent, on the cost of the lines affected cannot be given in regard to the payments to the Greymouth Harbour Board, these being in respect only to the net earnings of the Greymouth-Brunner portion of the Westland section of railway, for which a divisional capital account is not kept. (b.) No reduction has been made in the stated return on the capital expenditure on Dominion lines in respect to these payments to the Westport and Greymouth Harbour Boards, which have been made by the Treasury under the provisions of their respective Acts.
