The leakage was found to be caused by the neglect of the shipwrights who had been repairing the vessel to plug up some auger-holes they had made Whilst lying at anchor off the beach a heavy W. M. Thompgale sprang up and caused the vessel to drag son. her anchor and drift ashore The vessel met with heavy weather, and leaked H. Johansen. so badly that the master endeavoured to make Raglan Harbour for shelter; but when crossing the bar the vessel was driven ashore on the North Head and became a total wreck Fire was discovered in the cabin by-the master, A.
