No. 243.- -Petition of Imelda Coogan, of Wellington. Praying for relief for wrongful imprisonment and internment. 1 am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 27th July, 1916. No. 225.■- Petition of Catiiurine Dix, of Dunedin. Praying for a compassionate allowance in respect to loss sustained by the death of her sou whilst a member of the Expeditionary Forces. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for favourable consideration. 2nd August, 1916.

Special Rioi'Okt. 1 have the honour to report that the Committee, by resolution at its meeting on Wednesday, the 2nd August, desires to record its deep sense of appreciation of the services rendered to the Committee and the Dominion by the late J. H. Eseott, Esq., ex-Chairman of the Committee, and that this resolution be recorded in the Journals of the House. 2nd August, 191.6.

Special Report l . I have the honour to report that at the meeting of the Public Petitions A to L Committee held on Wednesday, the 2nd August, the following resolution was unanimously agreed to : — " That the Chairman (J. Vigor Brown, Esq.) be tendered the thanks of the Committee for the courteous, impartial, and prompt manner in which he conducted the business of the Committee during the past session, and that this resolution be recorded in the minutes, and be reported to the House." 2nd August, 1916.
