No. 305. —Petition of H. R. DtJNDAS and 4 Others. Prating for an inquiry into circumstances connected with the action of the Board of Governors of the Wailaki Boys' High School in refusing to allow certain boys to continue in attendance. I am directed to report that the Committee has no recommendation to make. 27th October, 1919.

No. 321 .—Petition of JOSEPH MoLAtJOHLAN. Prating for reinstatement in the service of the Education Department, or that he be granted a superannuation allowance. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for consideration. 27th October, 1919.

No. 97.—Petition of A. W. Johnson and 32 Others. Prating for an inquiry into changes in the Education staff at Itarotonga. 1 am directed to report that the member in charge of the petition expressed a desire to withdraw the same. The Committee recommends that the member be allowed to withdraw the petition. 27th October, 1919.

Paper No. 209.—Correspondence respecting the Grading of Teachers in the Auckland District. I am directed to report,— 1. The Committee finds that the evidence shows that the Dominion grading system is not satisfactory in that Auckland teachers are graded on a higher basis than those of equal merit under other Boards. 2. That immediate steps be taken to establish a uniform basis upon which the grading of the whole of the teachers of the Dominion shall be founded. 3. That the forty-nine appellants won their case at the Hoard of Appeal and at the Supreme Court. 4. That as the appellants won their case before the Appeal Board and the Supreme Court they are entitled to the benefit, of tin- findings. 3rd November, 1919.

Xo. 358.—Petition of Eleanor May Dyson. I'raytng that she be granted an amount equal to thai deducted from the salary of her late husband during the whole period of his services as a school teacher. I am directed to report that in the opinion of the Committee this petition should be referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. 3rd November, 1919.
